West Coast Car Show

The annual West Coast Car Show took place in hot sunny weather at the Curro Sports Field in Langebaan on January 22. Bigger than ever before, there were 328 vehicles on show including classic cars and pick-ups, moderns, hot and rat rods and motorcycles. Amongst the car rarities on view were a Henry J, a Buick Centurion and a Hillman Imp.

Along with a few of the Cape’s well-known one-make car clubs, FMM supported the event with a display of four cars – MGB GT, Austin-Healey 100-6 and two Minis, a Cooper and a Cooper S. Local car dealerships displaying some of their latest offerings, there was a large craft market on the go along with refreshment facilities to keep the near 3 000 attendees nourished. Radio-controlled cars were available to entertain the youngsters (and older kids…) and the whole show took place to some great music provided by the High End Blues band.

A total of R89 000 was raised at the show, and the proceeds were shared amongst four local charities; Feed The Need, Team Langebaan Neighbourhood Watch, Rotary Langebaan and P.L.A.Y.
