Knysna Motor Show 2018

The annual Knysna Motor Show, recognised as one of SA’s premium events, takes place on Sunday 29 April at the Knysna High School sports grounds, located on Waterfront Drive. Sponsored by Sanlam Private Wealth, the show caters for all car and motorcycle enthusiasts and families and enjoyment is guaranteed.

Last year, the event attracted more than 400 high quality exhibits to the enjoyment of more than 6 000 visitors. Now in its seventh year, the categories of vehicles on display will include veteran and vintage cars built prior to 1945, classic cars, modern sports and supercars as well as classic and collectable motorcycles. All vehicles on display are personally selected. FMM will be sending its Protea and Alfa Romeo GTV6 3,0 as well as the Mazda Cosmo Sport.

As usual, the show precedes the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb, which takes place over the following weekend, May 4/5/6. Acknowledged as South Africa’s premier annual motoring and motorsport lifestyle event, this year the Hillclimb attracted a record number of applications for its ninth edition. The organisers had the arduous task of narrowing down the final selection to just 64 highly prized slots for Classic Car Friday, and 84 for the various categories that make up the King of the Hill challenge which takes place on the Saturday and Sunday.

For Classic Car Friday, fans can look forward to cars representing the earliest days of Grand Prix racing to the sports cars that defined the 1960s, and the V8-powered muscle cars that dominated the 1970s. For the King of the Hill challenge there will be road-car based vehicles encompassing street-legal and modified racing machines as well as single-seater and racing sports vying for glory on the challenging 1,9-km Simola Hill course, all trying to beat Andre Bezuidenhout’s current course record of 37,695 seconds in the stunning Dallara F189 Formula 1 car.
