Since it was first introduced in the Subaru 1000 in 1966, total global production of the boxer motor over the past half-century tops 16 million units. Today, every vehicle sold by Subaru in South Africa is fitted with a Boxer engine and together with Porsche, remain the only two car manufacturers who equip vehicles with such engines. MM
