THE HISTORY

Built with Grande Prix Inspiration

Auto Union was the name of the so-called “German General Motors” which came into being in 1932 by the merger between Horch, Wanderer, Audi and DKW. The name was also applied to the rear-engined Grand Prix racing cars, driven by Bernd Rosemeyer, Hans Stuck Sr, Tazio Nuvolari and Paul Pietsch. In 1959, the elegant sports coupe called the 1000S was added to the range. With the introduction of the DKW Junior imminent, the bigger DKW’s were renamed Auto Union.
